1940s Warrick Monarch Young Adult’s Tricycle with Two-Wheel Steering

This Monarch has two 18″ front wheels, with Ackerman steering, and a 24″ rear.

There’s always been a strong market for children’s trikes. By their teenage years, however, boys would have wanted something more sporty, so manufacturers were more likely to sell this size of tricycle to teenage girls.

This is a similar configuration to the Harding TWS tricycle, except that the Harding is an adult trike, with 26″ rear. You can compare it with the Harding, below.

Here’s the Monarch next to one of my Hardings so you can compare them.

Finally, a 19th century advert illustrating juveniles under the Monarch name, but with no further details. I’m not sure if this dates from before or after John Warrick bought the company name, in 1892.
